We are the Câmpions

Our story

We're sharing our love of real dairy and building the infrastructure that makes it possible. We started Câm with a simple aim of making real dairy from raw milk here in Nigeria. The idea came from our childhood memories of fresh, rich, creamy, tart yoghurt sold from the calabashes of pastoralist women who walked from neighbourhood to neighbourhood selling fermented dairy products. Even though powdered milk is now everywhere, the taste of fresh dairy is what we remember.
Instead of losing this part of our culture, we decided to honour the women who introduced us to our first spoonful of the real stuff by creating our own authentic recipes for today’s generation to enjoy. The only problem? Nigeria doesn’t have a dairy industry that’s established enough to yield a regular supply of milk. So we set about creating one. To quench our thirst for the good stuff, we’re building a modern and sustainable dairy industry from scratch that unites pastoralists across Nigeria, reducing poverty in rural communities and producing enough milk to nourish our country.

About our milk

When we say “real milk” we mean the fresh stuff that comes straight from a cow and is bottled soon after leaving the udder. A tall glass of milk is full of protein and calcium, plus it contains the building blocks of a healthy diet and meets the needs of three common nutritional deficiencies in Nigeria: vitamin A, iodine and zinc.

All our milk comes from pastoralist suppliers. When we talk about pastoralists, we mean anyone who cares for livestock. In Nigeria, 95% of our 20.7 million cows are owned by the Fulani ethnic group.

Our facilities

We're proud to launch the very first factory in Nigeria that's dedicated to processing real dairy. Based in Abuja, our Câm offices and factory have been designed by award-winning architects ANA Design Studio. This new 9500 square-foot space is home to state-of-the-art dairy processing equipment made to our bespoke requirements and imported from Italy.
